Cabaret
AUDIOS:
Cabaret 1987/88 Revival:
1987 Pre-Broadway Tour - Date Unknown
Cast: Joel Grey (Emcee), Alyson Reed (Sally), Gregg Edelman (Cliff), Regina Resnik (Fraulein Schneider), Werner Klemperer (Herr Schultz), Nora Mae Lyng (Fraulein Kost), David Staller (Ernst)
Notes: Done on the tour leading up to the broadway revival. Small differences from the later revival - Cliff pretends to be Russian instead of English when Sally first calls him. Also, Don't Tell Mama ends as it originally did, rather than the ammended ending created later into the production.
Audio Rip from the DVD of same description.
Cabaret - 1993 London Revival
1994, Exact Date Unknown | Soundboard Recording of the ITV Broadcast Version
Cast: Alan Cumming (The Emcee), Jane Horrocks (Sally Bowles), Adam Godley (Clifford 'Cliff' Bradshaw), Sara Kestleman (Fräulein Schneider), George Raistrick (Herr Schultz), Michael Gardiner (Ernst Ludwig), Charlotte Medcalf (Fräulein Kost / Frenchie)
Donmar Warehouse, London, England | 1993 | Soundboard Recording of the ITV Broadcast Version
Notes: Essentially the same as the BBC TV broadcast that has widely circulated, but taken from the radio broadcast.
The tracking was not done by me, and is eccentric to say the least. It is also missing a random 5 minutes in the middle, but overall it is a good audio. Jane Horrocks is an underrated Sally, if a bit eccentric, and it is amazing to hear Alan Cumming's Emcee for the first time.
Cabaret 1998 Revival:
June 6th, 1998
Cast: Natasha Richardson (Sally Bowles), Alan Cumming (Emcee), Mary Louise-Wilson (Fraulein Schneider), Ron Rifkin (Herr Schultz), John Benjamin Hickey (Clifford Bradshaw), Dennis O’Hare (Ernst Ludwig), Michele Pawk (Fraulein Kost).
Notes: Contains the entire Revival cast. Natasha’s performance is truly breathtaking to hear! As it was recorded on tape, the quality isn’t ideal, but it’s amazing to hear the full cast in action.
June 6th, 1999 - Alan and Mary’s last performances
Cast: Mary McCormack (Sally), Alan Cumming (Emcee), Boyd Gaines (Cliff), Laurence Luckinbill (Herr Schultz), Carole Shelley (Frl. Schneider), Michael Stuhlbarg (Ernst Ludwig)
Notes:Contains a slight hissing throughout, as, with most audios of this time, it was recorded on tape. Still contains electric performances. This audio is occasionally mislabeled as featuring Natasha Richardson, but it’s very clearly Mary.
June 30th, 1999
Cast: Michael C. Hall (Emcee), Susan Egan (Sally), Boyd Gaines (Cliff), Carole Shelley (Fraulein Schneider), Victoria Clark (Fraulein Kost).
Notes: Slight hissing, mostly clear. Missing portions of Perfectly Marvelous and Two Ladies. Susan is one of my favorite Sallys, and Victoria Clark offers a lighter but still strong take on Fraulein Kost.
July 31st, 2001
Cast: Brooke Shields (Sally Bowles), Matt McGrath (Master of Ceremonies)
Notes: Decent audio, but Brooke Shields is...awful. She's just terrible in a way that's fascinating. She makes perhaps every wrong choice and actress playing Sally can, and her singing is like nails on a chalkboard.
I'm not 100% on the rest of the cast, because the audio came with a list, but, excluding Brooke and Matt, the rest of the people listed were on tour at the time.
December 10th, 2001
Cast: Raul Esparza (The Emcee), Milena Govich (Sally Bowles), Matthew Greer (Clifford 'Cliff' Bradshaw), Carole Shelley (Fräulein Schneider), Larry Keith (Herr Schultz), Peter Benson (Ernst Ludwig)
Notes: Raúl, while being a great singer, is not my favorite Emcee; he makes several bizarre acting choices that hurt the show. That being said, the rest of the cast is quite good. Milena Govich is a very capable Sally (she had been understudying the role for months; this is from the two week period between two celebrity Sallys when she took over), if not the best.
September 22, 2002
Cast: Raul Esparza, Molly Ringwald, Rick Holmes, Carole Shelley, Hal Linden, Peter Benson, Candy Buckley
Notes: Title song is from a different recording and is sung by Gina Gershon.
October 17th 2003
Cast: Adam Pascal (The Emcee), Susan Egan (Sally Bowles), Rick Holmes (Clifford 'Cliff' Bradshaw), Blair Brown (Fräulein Schneider), Tony Roberts (Herr Schultz), Peter Benson (Ernst Ludwig), Liz McConahay (Fräulein Kost / Fritzie)
Notes: Adam Pascal's first performance as the Emcee.
Cabaret - 1999 National Tour
February 25th, 1999
Cast: Teri Hatcher (Sally Bowles), Norbert Leo Butz (Emcee), Barbara Andres (Fraulein Schneider), Rick Holmes (Cliff), Dick Latessa (Herr Schultz), Jeanine Morick (Fraulein Kost)
Notes: The quality is not ideal, it is old, but it's still a nice listen. Norbert is a very interesting Emcee and he makes very strong choices. As for Teri, it is very clear to me that she saw the original revival when Natasha Richardson was in it, because both her accent and singing mannerisms sound like an impersonation of her. This means Teri's singing is quite pleasant, if unremarkable (she does snarl her way through the title song quite nicely). However, her dialogue is stilted, as if she was acting in a vacuum; she doesn't connect with the other actors well.
Cabaret - 2006 London Revival:
November 4th 2006
Cast: Anna Maxwell Martin (Sally Bowles), Michael Hayden (Clifford Bradshaw), James Dreyfus (Emcee), Sheila Hancock (Fraulein Schneider), Geoffrey Hutchings (Herr Schultz), Harriet Thorpe (Fraulein Kost), Andrew Maud (Ernst Ludwig)
Note: DVD Audio rip, not the best quality. And that's just the performers. ZING!
No honestly Anna Maxwell Martin really is the perfect storm of awful. She's a cross between a squawking parrot and a screaming child. There are moments when I like her, but overall she overdoes it (and not in an "I'm Sally putting on an act" way, in an "I'm an actress who wants to be Natasha Richardson" kind of way). And James Dreyfuss...oof. He can barely sing. He has a sort of cynical charm to how he plays the role; his Emcee is very clearly already past his prime and having accepted his fate. But too often this detachment just transforms into a deadpan, personality-free delivery. The rest of the cast is alright. There's nothing wrong with how Sheila Hancock acts exactly, but her voice is just so annoying. like really i can't stand to listen to her.
June 30th, 2007
Cast: Kim Medcalf (Sally Bowles), James Dreyfus (Master of Ceremonies), Michael Hayden (Clifford Bradshaw), Francis Matthews (Herr Shultz), Honor Blackman (Fräulein Schneider), Andrew Maud (Ernst Ludwig), Harriet Thorpe (Fräulein Kost)
Notes: This is a very bizarre and flawed production, but i enjoy it anyways. And Kim Medcalf is far better than the production's original Sally, and has a lovely voice. Likewise, Honor Blackman is far more tolerable than Sheila Hancock. James Dreyfus is still aggressively mediocre, but what are you gonna do? Very good quality.
Cabaret 2008/2009 UK Tour:
2008, Liverpool
Cast: Wayne Sleep (Emcee), Samantha Barks (Sally)
Notes: Untracked, muddy, but hey, it’s a fun listen.
March 26th, 2009 - Edinburgh Playhouse
Cast: Wayne Sleep (Emcee), Samantha Barks (Sally)
Notes: My favorite of the audios of this tour. Tracked, includes full cast of this tour (cast list included). Echoey in some parts, but the vocals are excellent.
May 2009, Cardiff - tracked
Cast: Wayne Sleep (Emcee), Samantha Barks (Sally)
Notes: Audio is somewhat muddy but it is a very fun listen. Sam is an excellent Sally. Tracked.
Cabaret 2012 London Revival:
October 31st, 2012
Cast: Will Young (Emcee), Michelle Ryan (Sally Bowles), Sian Phillips (Fraulein Schneider), Harriet Thorpe (Fraulein Kost), Matt Rawle (Clifford Bradshaw), Linal Haft (Herr Schultz), Nicholas Tizzard (Ernst)
Note: Very nice audio, Michelle Ryan is an interesting Sally; her voice is very reminiscent of Jill Haworth. ,Will Young has a nice voice, and gives a serviceable performance, even if he makes some really fucking weird acting choices.
(This production cut the full song of Don't Tell Mama and turned it into a 1 minutes scene change/underscore, so don't worry, you're not crazy, you didn't accidentally miss the song; it just isn't there.")
Cabaret 2013 UK Tour:
October 23rd, 2013
Cast: Siobhan Dillon (Sally Bowles, Will Young (Emcee), Matt Rawle (Clifford Bradshaw), Lyn Paul (Fraulein Schneider), Linal Haft (Herr Schultz), Nicholas Tizzard (Ernst), Valerie Cutko (Fraulein Kost)
Notes: The audio is, admittedly, slightly quiet in volume, but in terms of quality it is stunningly clear. Slightly eccentrically tracked, but whatever. Siobhan is another of my favorites, who perfectly manages to balance the manic side of Sally with the broken side of her.
December 2nd, 2013 (Sometimes mislabeled as November 2nd, 2012)
Cast: Siobhan Dillon (Sally Bowles, Will Young (Emcee), Matt Rawle (Clifford Bradshaw), Lyn Paul (Fraulein Schneider), Linal Haft (Herr Schultz), Nicholas Tizzard (Ernst), Valerie Cutko (Fraulein Kost)
Notes: Tracked by me. Sometimes mislabeled, but the audio files have the right date. Better volume than the October 23rd audio, but its more muffled.
2014 Broadway Revival:
March 21, 2014
Cast: Alan Cumming (Emcee), Michelle Williams (Sally), Bill Heck (Cliff), Linda Emond (Fraulein Schneider), Danny Burstein (Herr Schultz), Gayle Rankin (Fraulein Kost), Aaron Krohn (Ernst Ludwig).
Note: First preview, great audio. Audience is very loud, there are moments when the laughter gets irritating (whoever recorded this master was very enthusiatic).
May 4th, 2014
Cast: Alan Cumming (Emcee), Michelle Williams (Sally), Bill Heck (Cliff), Linda Emond (Fraulein Schneider), Danny Burstein (Herr Schultz), Gayle Rankin (Fraulein Kost), Aaron Krohn (Ernst Ludwig).

October 21st, 2014
Cast: Alan Cumming, Michelle Williams, Bill Heck, Linda Emond, Danny Burstein, Gayle Rankin, Aaron Krohn.
Notes: One of Michelle’s last. Amazingly clear audio — one of the best bootlegs i’ve ever heard. A definite must have, and the closest we’ll come to a cast album with this cast.
Cabaret - February 15, 2015.
Cast: Alan Cumming (Emcee), Emma Stone (Sally), Bill Heck (Cliff), Linda Emond (Fraulein Schneider), Danny Burstein (Herr Schultz), Hani Furstenberg (Fraulein Kost), Aaron Krohn (Ernst Ludwig).
Emma’s last. Tracked by me.
Emma’s final performance - absolutely the best I’ve heard of her in the part.
February 18th, 2015 - Sienna’s second performance.
Cast: Alan Cumming (Emcee), Sienna Miller (Sally), Bill Heck (Cliff), Linda Emond (Fraulein Schneider), Danny Burstein (Herr Schultz), Hani Furstenberg (Fraulein Kost), Aaron Krohn (Ernst Ludwig).
Notes: Full 2015 cast, featuring Sienna Miller. Clear audio. Sienna’s vocals are weak, but her acting is quite good. Untracked, can be tracked on request.
February 22nd, 2015.
Cast: Alan Cumming, Andrea Goss (U/s Sally Bowles), Bill Heck, Linda Emond, Danny Burstein, Hani Furstenberg, Benjamin Eakeley (u/s Ernst Ludwig)
Notes: Clear audio, tracked. Remarkable performances from the 2015 cast, clear audio. It was a show I myself attended and I can confirm Miss Goss is an amazing Sally. withoutyou525600's master.
March 14th, 2015
Cast: Alan Cumming (The Emcee), Sienna Miller (Sally Bowles), Benjamin Eakeley (u/s Clifford ‘Cliff’ Bradshaw), Linda Emond (Fräulein Schneider), Danny Burstein (Herr Schultz), Aaron Krohn (Ernst Ludwig), Hani Furstenberg (Fräulein Kost / Fritzie)
Comments: Sienna is incredibly reminiscent of Natasha Richardson in her take on Sally, and that’s a good thing! Ben Eakeley makes an excellent - and very earnest - Cliff.
2016/2017 National Tour
Provedince, RI - January 29, 2016
Cast: Randy Harrison (Emcee), Andrea Goss (Sally Bowles), Lee Aaron Rosen (Cliff Bradshaw), Shannon Cochran (Fraulein Schneider), Mark Nelson (Herr Schultz), Alison Ewing (Fraulein Kost), Ned Noyes (Ernst Ludwig)
Notes: Opening night, tracked. Andrea is amazing!
Pittsburgh, PA - February 6, 2016
Cast: Randy Harrison (Emcee), Andrea Goss (Sally Bowles), Lee Aaron Rosen (Cliff Bradshaw), Shannon Cochran (Fraulein Schneider), Mark Nelson (Herr Schultz), Alison Ewing (Fraulein Kost), Ned Noyes (Ernst Ludwig)
Notes: Two seperate audios from this date - one evening, one matinee. I personally prefer the evening audio, but the matinee is also good; both tracked, full cast.
Washington, DC - Kennedy Center - July 23rd, 2017
Cast: Leigh Ann Larkin (Sally), Jon Peterson (Emcee), Benjamin Eakeley (Cliff), Scott Robertson (Herr Schultz), Mary Gordon Murray (Frl. Schneider), Patrick Vaill (Ernst Ludwig), Alison Ewing (Kost/Fritzie), Kelsey Beckert (u/s Lulu)
Notes: oydtrade's master. Tracked.
Regional Productions:
Westchester Theatre, Elmsford, NY - September 2nd, 2004
Kate Shindle (Sally Bowles), Jon Peterson (Emcee), Corey Brill (Cliff Bradshaw), Scott Robertson (Herr Schultz), Joy Franz (Fraülein Schneider), Fred Rose (Ernst Ludwig), Penny Ayn Maas (Fraülein Kost)
Notes: Kate Shindle is another of my personal favorite Sallys. She has an amazing voice and delvers the role perfectly, which is especially surprising considering her initial claim to fame was as Miss America. Everyone is just okay, but yeah, Kate is great.
American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, MA - September 2nd, 2010
Aly Trasher (Sally), Amanda Palmer (Emcee), Matt Wood (Cliff), Remo Airaldi (Herr Schultz), Thomas Derrah (Frl. Schneider), David Costa (Ernst Ludwig), Claire Elizabeth Davies (Kost),
Notes: Very good audio, Amanda is perfectly marvelous!
Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA, - June 20th, 2015
Barrett Wilbert Weed (Sally), Wesley Taylor (Emcee), Gregory Wooddell (Cliff), Rick Foucheux (Herr Schultz), Naomi Jacobson (Frl. Schneider), Bobby Smith (Ernst Ludwig), Maria Rizzo (Kost)
Very clear audio, excellent performances from the whole cast (particularly Barrett & Maria). Oyd’s master.
